By using Diigo, I have gained many new skills. One new skill that I have learned is how to annotate a website. I also learned how to create bookmarks to websites that I think are useful. This application can be useful in the classroom because I can create a group for discussion. Students can use it to comment on posts and to post and annotate articles. I can also use it for myself because it will allow me to save articles that I have annotated for futures use.
PowerPoint can be used to support student learning at every level of Bloom's Taxonomy. For the remember part, it can be used during the lesson to display facts and notes that students should be able to remember. For the understand part, teachers can include videos or images that show a visual of the information so it can be better understood. PowerPoint can be used for the apply section because you can include quizzes in it. Teachers can put a short quiz at the end so they can see if students' learned the material. For the analyze section, you can include a Venn diagram within your PowerPoint so students can compare and contrast the information. For the evaluating part, teachers can include a rubric for students to asses how well they think they learned the knowledge. Lastly, for the create part, students can create their own PowerPoint on a topic and present it to the class.
A site that teachers can use to stay informed of changes in technology is ISTE.org. ISTE is the International Society for Technology in Education. This site is very helpful for teachers to become aware of changes in educational technology. They have all kinds of resources and tools for teachers to use in regards to educational technology. Overall, this is a very helpful site.
